President’s Line
Happy New Year Muskie Hunters! I wanted to thank all of you for trusting me to run things again
this year. I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Frank Samat, Greg Denny, Mark Steuer, John
Bilka, and the Board Of Directors for helping me run things last year. I'd like to welcome new board
members: Andy Richert, Frank Loye, and Joe Kalisz. We have a couple of positions still available;
if you would like to get a little more involved in your favorite sport / pass time there is no better way.
Our Spring Fundraiser is underway. We will raffle off five prizes this year: one print, one muskie
carving, a muskie net, and two rod/reel combos. The print is "The Live Log" by Les C. Kouba; the
carving is a forty-inch Muskie that can be hung on the wall. The carving came from an artist in Bolder
Junction Wisconsin called "Uncle Dicks Wood Carvings". We also have a Frabill Musky net, and two
rod and reel combos, your tickets will be arriving shortly (if you have not already received them). If
you should need addition tickets please give me a call and I'll have a packet sent to you.
On January 8th – 10th the Chicago Muskie Show is at Harper College. This is a great opportunity to
recruit new members, and sell raffle tickets for our Spring Fundraiser, plus if you work you're in the
show free that day. Robert Tomes author of Muskie On The Fly will once again be in our booth
signing books on Friday from about 1:00 P.M. to about 5:00 P.M., stop by and say Hi. Robert will also
be giving a seminar Friday at 7:30PM. We need help so if you can volunteer to work the show please
contact me at 847-769-4061.
